Thaty has been a fierce advocate for domestic workers' rights and equitable family care policy at the local, state, and national level for over a decade.
Active advocate for the landmark Massachusetts Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, passed in 2014 — one of the strongest domestic worker protection laws in the country.
Participated in the Boston Nanny Census, a groundbreaking effort to document the working conditions and demographics of nannies in the Greater Boston area.
Testified against H.B. 4053, a bill that sought to exclude au pairs from the Massachusetts Domestic Workers' Law — successfully helping to protect au pair workers' rights.

Community Building
Conceived after numerous informal outings with nanny friends, Thaty noticed the lack of community involvement and networking and made it official in January 2014. A consistent weekly gathering of nannies to strengthen the community — now over 100 members strong, meeting every Saturday across the state.
Created BY domestic workers FOR domestic workers in the spring of 2013. First broadcast went live July 28, 2013. Streaming weekly through Zumix.org — covering domestic workers' rights, work dilemmas, policy conversations, and community stories.
A national initiative held to recognize the needs of young children and raise awareness of the positive correlation between nanny training and quality care. Part of Week of the Young Child, sponsored by NAEYC. Thaty has been involved since the very beginning.
A Greater Boston organization of women of color, immigrant women and families organizing for justice and human rights. Thaty has been involved in public advocacy since 2012 — including the MA Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, the Boston Nanny Census, and testifying against H.B. 4053.
